Ever want to be a Mayor Without all the Headaches?

The Honorary Mayor of Orangevale’s position is up for re-election. Applications are currently being accepted until May 1^st.  The position entails fundraising for local charities, and attending Orangevale chamber events.  Candidates will be involved in community events such as Pow Wow Days, and the Pow Wow Days Parade.  Attending grand openings and ribbon cuttings as well as new businesses events are part of the role of Honorary Major.

Once all the applications are accepted the candidates are announced the first day of Pow Wow Days.  The candidates then begin their fundraising to gather as many donations as possible.  Candidates will solicit contributions. One dollar ($1.00) raised equals one vote.  In the event of a tie, the Candidates will be given an additional 24 hours to raise more votes.  They sponsor many activities to raise money for their candidacy.   This continues until the first Tuesday after Labor Day.  The winning candidate is then announced based on the total amount of money raised.  The winning candidate then takes office on October 1^st.

THIS IS A FUN EVENT! The spirit of the Race is good-natured rivalry between Orangevale organizations, business owners and local citizens. Kindness and support is expected from all candidates. Additionally, candidate must agree to refrain from negative comments or actions toward other candidates.  Any abuse to other candidates will result in disqualification.

Are you a Kid Who Wants to  Change The World?

JR Honorary Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Jr. Honorary Mayor.  The Orangevale Chamber of Commerce Jr. Honorary Mayor’s Program is design to recognize the youth in our community dedicated to serving others and/or improving the quality of life for all and making the world a better place. Candidates must be at least 5-17 years of age, live and/or go to school within the Orangevale area.

Candidate must be willing to attend various Chamber activities through the term of office.  Candidate must agree to positively promote the Chamber and community.  Additionally, candidate must agree to refrain from negative comments or actions toward other candidates.  Term is from the first day of Pow Wow Days to the first day of Pow Wow Days of the following year.

Some of the Privileges and responsibilities of the Jr. Honorary Mayor position are wearing the official ceremonial medal/sash to Chamber functions. The winner will be identifying themselves as the The Orangevale Chamber Jr. Honorary Mayor at all times.  Attend all regular Network functions and Chamber business mixers.  Work closely with the Honorary Mayor with requests for official participation by the Jr. Honorary Mayor in official business. Participate in any public community event in the capacity of Jr. Honorary Mayor.  Work with the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
